Taking Home Economics was supposed to just be a joke class; the kind of easy-A that overworked, stressed out high school athletes flocked to in droves to have one less thing to worry about amidst papers and practices and tests and training camps. For Atsumu, the class quickly went from dream to nightmare as he discovered his totally ineptitude in the kitchen. For Osamu, the opposite happened.

The kitchen loved him.

Which led to his current situation, outside of the club room with a neatly wrapped up steamed bun, waiting for Kita-san to show up early to afternoon practice.

Maybe other Captains amble in last. Leave the Juniors to groan and haul and set up the nets. But Kita would never ask what he would not do himself. He's first to every single practice this year. Sweeping the floor clean before anyone else even walks in.

Except today.

He pulls up short. Blinking in surprise, then smiling.

"Oh - Osamu, you're early."

Osamu knows that he can count on Kita to be first to practice, even though he himself is rarely one of the first ones there - unless he and Atsumu have turned arriving to practice into a race, of course. Which isn't the case today, as Atsumu is off talking with their history teacher about his last exam results.

Kita's smile is soft, sweet, radiant- enough to make Osamu feel a little tongue-tied.

"Yeah. Hey, Kita-san. I was waiting for you. I mean, I have something for you." He holds out the meat bun with two hands, a rather formal way of presenting it for someone usually so casual.

"We made meat buns in home ec today, and I had some extras. Wanted to make sure you got one."

He's trying to play it cool, but truthfully Osamu really, really wants Kita to like it.

The smells of pork and shiitake tease at Kita's nose. Of course he's eaten a proper lunch, but it feels like a long time ago. There's also the fact Osamu cooked this. Wants to share. A fraught topic, when it comes to the Miyas.

So Kita accepts at once.

"Thanks. That was really thoughtful."

He takes a neat bite and chews. Giving it the consideration deserved.

Osamu doesn't mean to wait with baited breath, but how can he not when it's Kita tasting his food. He worked really hard on balancing the spices that went into the pork, and used some techniques he read about online when it came to filling and closing up the bun. He wanted it to be perfect.

Wants Kita to think that it's perfect, too. And he really can't wait to see his reaction.

"Well, what do you think?"
